Founded in the 1880s as an Anglo-Indian settlement, Whitefield became an IT hub around ITPL (the International Tech Park) and is now a large residential and office district. The Purple Line metro has improved access a great deal. Phoenix Marketcity and VR Bengaluru are the main malls.
