Brightly lacquered wooden toys made with natural dyes in Channapatna, about 60 km from the city, with a tradition going back to Tipu Sultan's era. They are safe for children and carry a GI tag. You can buy them in Channapatna itself, at Cauvery Emporium and at many design stores.
